My Top 9 Local Healthy Eats
So it’s past lunch but not quite yet dinner. You are running around like a chicken without a head transporting the kiddos from school to activities, racing through the grocery store (still racking your brain about what to make for dinner!) and start to hear your tummy rumble. Sound familiar?
You could always pass through the Starbucks drive thru – there’s one on every corner – but that will either feed your caffeine addiction or feed your belly with a pastry that you won’t even remember scarfing down. Why not have a handy list of healthy places where you can run in for a quick healthy snack without any regrets?
I am constantly shuttling between Weston, Davie and Plantation and over the years I have compiled this list of my top nine healthy locally owned businesses I enjoy and love to support.
Weston:
1.) Giardino’s – https://g.page/Giardino-Weston?share
Giardino’s is my GO TO create your own salad place. Their ingredients are super fresh and don’t taste like they just came out of a plastic bag. They serve salads, wraps, bowls and soups. I usually order the Basta Create Your Own Salad and save half for dinner or lunch the next day. They also have a location in Davie.
2.) My Organic Corner – https://goo.gl/maps/Mm6rH8Z4CGu8p1k79
Their menu is completely organic and almost all vegan. One item is more delicious than the next! Their tuna (the only non-vegan item) is to die for and their lentil stuffed sweet potato is one of my faves.
3.) Raw Juce – https://g.page/raw-juce-weston?share
You can’t go wrong with their juices, smoothies, and acai bowls. Cacao Protein Crunch or AB&J Bowl are my two go-to’s. My kids are obsessed with their juice, Tasty AF.
4.) Sano Food – https://g.page/sano-food-weston?share
A unique, little cafe with delicious food and a sweet ambience. Grab breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a snack here and you won’t be sorry. I love their scrambled eggs and toast with one of their delicious coffees with coconut milk. So good!
Davie:
5.) Juice Therapy Cafe – https://goo.gl/maps/418jkX4N61v2hVN79
This hidden gem has amazing cold press juices made to order, as well as soups, salads, wraps, shots, and more. They have many vegan and gluten-free options here and everything is super fresh. My fave thing on their menu is the Green Zing.
6.) Goji Juicery & Kitchen – https://goo.gl/maps/GgeoNRhvYC8a3dHPA
What used to be called Tossed Up Salads is still serving up amazing salads, wraps, acai bowls, soups, smoothies, and juices. And can we talk about their balsamic vinaigrette dressing? It is amazing!! I love their salads – especially the build your own option.
7.) Fresh Kitchen – https://goo.gl/maps/3qPTwJZgavJrNef56
The interior of this place will have you smiling instantly. It’s a total mood booster! Get in line and choose your base, veggies and protein. They have tons of gluten-free, non-dairy, and vegan options available and they are all so tasty. My fave is a bowl with brown rice, tons of roasted veggies, and grilled chicken.
Plantation:
8.) Ovlo Eats – https://g.page/OvloEats?share
They say you eat with your eyes first and at Ovlo Eats, that is 100% true! Every dish is beautifully and healthfully prepared. Everything here is amazing but my go- to is the Ovlo Bowl with grilled salmon. It’s a flavor fiesta!
9.) Swami Juice – https://g.page/SwamiJuicePlantation?share
A one stop shop for cold-pressed juices, booster shots (no, not that kind!), smoothies, toasts, and acai bowls. My go-to is the Berrylicious acai bowl with some extra toppings and superfood add-ons. Yum!
If you aren’t constantly cruising back and forth on 595, take a few moments to Google “healthy restaurants near me” to compile your own list of options. Save them in your phone under “Notes” and when you hear your tummy start to rumble, head to one of those spots instead of a drive-thru. Email me your list to nikki@nikkiwellness.com and I will share it with our growing community of healthy warriors!
